KMITL Congratulates Computer Engineering Students on Winning 1st Runner-up at “JUMP THAILAND Hackathon 2025”

Innovation for Equality: “Dlife” – A Real-time Sign Language to Speech Platform

King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) extends its congratulations to the students from the Department of Computer Engineering (Continuing Program) on winning the 1st Runner-up Award at the JUMP THAILAND Hackathon 2025.

Organized by AIS Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), this national innovation contest focused on AI technology for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Team “Tua Jeed Prom Jump” Members:

  • Pitch Suemklang

  • Sudarat Luangthai

  • Rapeepat Jaibun

  • Siwarat Srithep

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bunchana Purahong

Driven by Shocking Statistics The project was inspired by a critical issue: Thailand has 438,174 people with hearing impairments, yet only 21.2% (approximately 92,893 people) are employed.

Bridging the Gap in the Live Commerce Era In an era where Live Commerce accounts for over 20% of the e-commerce market and 34% of Thais purchase goods via live streams, this platform should be an open opportunity for everyone. However, language barriers have prevented many deaf individuals from communicating with viewers like the general public.

Dlife: Breaking the Barrier The team developed a “Real-time Sign Language to Speech Platform” that functions by:

  • Translating Sign Language Structure (Verb–Subject–Object)

  • Into Spoken Language Structure (Subject–Verb–Object) for hearing people.

This technology unlocks the market for the hearing impaired, enabling them to host live sales effectively and independently without the need for interpreters, thereby creating sustainable income opportunities.
