🌍 KMITL’s Journey to the Netherlands: Exploring the Future of Farming

During this enriching visit, the President of KMITL, along with university executives, had the opportunity to visit several leading organizations in the Netherlands that exemplify a holistic and forward-thinking approach to Future Farming.

Key visits included:
🇳🇱 Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, Fishery and Nature (LVVN) and the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO), where proactive and sustainable agricultural policies were shared.
🌱 At Ter Laak and Rijk Zwaan, the delegation learned about cutting-edge plant breeding techniques and cultivation innovations aimed at increasing yields while minimizing environmental impact.
🦠 Koppert highlighted the importance of biological control methods in reducing reliance on chemical inputs.
🎓 At Wageningen University and Research, insights were shared on sustainable farming and the latest technological advances.
🌿 Finally, Artechno Grow and Van Gelder Groente demonstrated how technology is transforming horticulture and logistics to support high-quality production and environmental preservation.

💡 The mission focused on uncovering the “secret formula” of Future Farming — a concept that emphasizes a balance between three core pillars:

1. Productivity

2. Quality

3. Environmental Sustainability

Here’s what we learned about the future of agriculture:

• 🌾 Biodiversity is essential for resilient and balanced production systems.

• 🚫 Reducing chemical inputs like pesticides and synthetic fertilizers is critical for long-term health and safety.

• 🐞 Biological control and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) are key strategies in sustainable crop protection.

• 🤖 The integration of technology and innovation is a powerful driver toward sustainable agriculture, opening new opportunities for research, development, and agribusiness models.

The Netherlands stands as a global example of how science and innovation can transform traditional agriculture into a sustainable, high-quality system. These insights and experiences are incredibly valuable and inspiring — and we are excited to adapt and apply these lessons to uplift agricultural systems not only in Thailand, but across the world.
