Sustainable Procurement Policy King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang recognizes the role and responsibility of higher education institutions in promoting sustainable development, particularly in the efficient use of resources, consideration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) impacts, and support for operations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To ensure that the Institute’s procurement processes are conducted responsibly, transparently, and in a manner that maximizes benefits for the Institute, society, and the environment, the Institute hereby establishes the Sustainable Procurement Policy as guidelines for all internal units to observe, as follows:

  1. The Institute’s procurement activities shall take into consideration long-term value for money, together with quality, cost, operational efficiency, and the environmental and social impacts throughout the life cycle of goods, works, or services.
  2. The Institute shall promote environmentally friendly procurement (Green Procurement) by considering the selection of goods and services that help reduce resource consumption, energy usage, and greenhouse gas emissions.

    – Support shall be given to products certified for environmental standards or bearing eco-friendly labels.

    – Consideration shall also be given to waste reduction, reuse, and recycling practices.

  1. The Institute shall consider selecting suppliers, contractors, or business partners that operate ethically, respect human rights, labor rights, and relevant laws, and do not support activities that may cause negative social impacts.
  2. Procurement activities shall be conducted in accordance with the principles of good governance, transparency, accountability, and fairness, while strictly complying with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional rules and procedures.
  3. All internal units shall integrate the principles of sustainable procurement into the preparation of Terms of Reference (TOR), the specification of technical requirements, and the selection process for suppliers or contractors, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of procurement performance, as appropriate.

The Institute shall periodically review and revise the Sustainable Procurement Policy to ensure alignment with changing circumstances and the Institute’s sustainable development objectives.
